Adaptation Ideas Prize

2015 Adaptation Ideas Prize

The University of Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative, in cooperation with the Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE), hosted a cross-disciplinary ideas competition to gather the best thinking from Notre Dame students on the humanitarian challenge of our time: climate change.

The winner of this year's competition was Alicia Czarnecki, a rising Junior studying Environmental Engineering with a minor in International Development Studies, who suggested the development of a two-way mobile hazard reporting system to help people in high risk areas better prepare for climate related events and disasters.

Patrick Conry, a graduate student in the College of Engineering, was also awarded an Honorable Mention for his idea to utilize green rooftops to deal with the issue of heat islands within cities.
