Patrick E. Murphy is Professor of Marketing at the University of Notre Dame. Murphy researches how ethics influence marketing decision-making in both business and non-profit organizations.

As a member of the ND-GAIN team, Murphy brings his expertise in “green marketing” to bear on the Index. From his corporate ethics perspective, he informs the GAIN team about the suite of corporate responses to climate-related decision points and investments. As the author of “Eighty Exemplary Ethics Statements,” in which he presents and comments on the codes of conduct at some of the world’s leading corporations and institutions, Murphy offers great insight into the world of corporate responsibility.

Murphy’s articles have won “best paper” awards from the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Macromarketing, and the European Journal of Marketing. Professor Murphy teaches courses in business ethics, marketing ethics, and corporate sustainability. He has taught previously at Marquette University and spent sabbaticals at the Federal Trade Commission and University College Cork in Ireland.
