Kenneth A. Hersh, 49, is a Co-Founder and the Chief Executive Officer of NGP Energy Capital Management, a premier investment franchise in the natural resources industry. Founded in 1988, NGP has managed $13 billion of cumulative committed capital through its investment funds and affiliates which include: Natural Gas Partners, NGP Capital Resources Company (Nasdaq: “NGPC”), NGP Energy Technology Partners and NGP Global Adaptation Partners. Mr. Hersh is responsible for directing the strategic and investment activities of the firm.

Under his leadership, NGP has made over 200 investments in natural resources companies located throughout North America. In addition, the firm has been the catalyst for some of the larger recapitalizations and merger transactions in the sector. NGP has been a leader in structuring and negotiating transactions totaling over $20 billion. Under his stewardship, Natural Gas Partners has achieved a 23-year gross IRR in excess of 30% compounded, making it one of the nation’s top investment firms.

Mr. Hersh currently serves as a director of NGPC and Memorial Production Partners as well as numerous private companies. Previously, he has served as a director of numerous public companies, including, among others, Energy Transfer Partners, Energy Transfer Equity, Pioneer Natural Resources, Encore Acquisition Company, Eagle Rock Energy Partners and Resolute Energy Corporation. In addition, he currently serves on the Dean’s Council of the Harvard Kennedy School and on the Advisory Councils of The Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and The Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University. He is a frequent lecturer at industry functions covering topics relating to the energy, corporate finance and private equity sectors and has been a frequent contributor on CNBC.

Mr. Hersh is a member of the World Economic Forum where he has been a featured speaker at its annual meeting held in Davos, Switzerland. He also serves on the International Business Council’s G20 CEO Task Force on Commodities in conjunction with the International Chamber of Commerce.

While managing NGP Energy Capital Management, Mr. Hersh has been very involved in the nonprofit arena both nationally and locally. In 2010 he founded the Global Adaptation Institute and currently serves as Chairman of its Board of Directors. The Institute supports efforts to help the world adapt to the effects of climate change, population growth, mass urbanization and economic development. In addition, he serves on the Board of the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues.

Prior to co-founding NGP, Mr. Hersh was employed by the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. where he was a member of the firm’s energy group specializing in oil and gas financing and merger and acquisition transactions.

Mr. Hersh was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Princeton University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Politics in 1985. In 1989, Mr. Hersh earned his M.B.A. degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business where he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Mr. Hersh and his wife, Julie, have two children and reside in Dallas, Texas where they serve on numerous educational and civic boards of directors.
